In 1998 I have first decided to participate in a honey rating competition in Polje by Ljubljana. The reason for that was simple – I wanted to show others my activity, gain new experience and receive an objective review of the quality of my work.
I now participate in honey rating competitions (with international participation) each year and I am more than successful at presenting my products. The fruits of my labour have shown in 2004, when I received the title of champion for the pine and fir honey. In addition, I got second place for my fir honey in the final listing of samples.
Acknowledgements mean a great deal to me, because beekeeping is an individual activity and such objective praise of quality of my work represents a great encouragement and at the same time commitment to greater effort and continued improvement of my work. Apart from that, it helps to expand the circle of my loyal customers, because regular consumers of honey know how quality honey should taste like. The competition is strong, but I am aware of my qualities and abilities, so I am able to keep the circle of my loyal customers and even keep expanding it. I believe that I produce top-quality honey and the customers and acknowledgements only strengthen my belief.
In the future I will continue to participate in such rating competitions on a regular basis, because they give me an objective confirmation and are a measure of quality of my honey, products as well as work.
